Jenkins Independent Parents and Community,
As the new principal of Jenkins Middle High School, it is my pleasure to welcome everyone back for the 2020-2021 school year. This year will be unlike any other in modern history. Although we finished the prior school year engaged in virtual learning, beginning the year in such a manner is a more difficult task. The last school year caught us all by surprise. This time we have had an opportunity to plan and prepare. While there is no substitute for live face to face instruction between a teacher and student in a classroom, we intend to deliver the best virtual instructional program possible.
Our teachers will be producing their own instructional videos and assignments and posting those to their individual Google Classroom accounts. In the afternoon, students will have the opportunity to join their teachers live for further instruction and clarification after watching the video and beginning the assignment. Those without internet will have videos delivered to them on a “thumb drive” and will have the opportunity to contact teachers via phone. An afterschool tutoring program will also be available online and by phone.
Students will be expected to participate in the instructional program. New material from the Kentucky academic standards will be presented daily. This will be a demanding school year with parents and teachers working together to prepare our students for success. Good communication between parents and school will be vital for this process to work.
I am honored to serve as the principal at Jenkins Middle High School. It is truly a privilege to be part of a community where parents, teachers, and students care and strive to build positive relationships that support academic and social growth. Feel free to contact me anytime at rondall.baker@jenkins.kyschools.us or at 832-2184.
Once again, welcome back! Let us make this a great year despite the difficult circumstances and as always – GO CAVS!
Sincerely,
Rondall Baker
