Jenkins Middle High School would like to introduce our new principal, Mr. Marvin Boggs! A life-long Letcher Countian, Mr. Boggs has most recently served as head of the Letcher County Alternative Education Center. He will be replacing Mrs. Wendy Rutherford as principal, who is moving to the Jenkins Central Office in the position of Instructional Supervisor. Mr. Boggs has the following message for Cavalier Nation:
Hello Cavaliers, Welcome to the start of a new school year! I hope this letter finds you and your family well and excited for the year ahead. My name is Marvin Boggs, and I am excited to be starting my first year as principal at Jenkins Middle High School! I have an Elementary Education Degree from Midway College, master’s degree in Teacher Leadership from Union College, Rank 1 and Principalship from Asbury University and will complete my degree as Education Specialist this fall. I have spent my 11-year teaching career in elementary as a 2nd grade teacher, middle school as a special education teacher, and in high school as head of alternative education. Prior to my teaching career, I spent 24 years in the coal industry, and 20 plus years coaching our youth in various sports. I have been blessed with many experiences that I can now bring to our Cavalier family to help them be successful now and in their future endeavors.
As we begin this new school year, I want to emphasize our commitment to providing a safe and supportive learning environment for all students. Our staff has been hard at work preparing for the start of a new year and we are excited to welcome students back to campus. I am looking forward to a great school year, and I am grateful for the opportunity to work in such a wonderful community. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns. I look forward to meeting our students and families. SWORDS UP! Mr. Marvin Boggs
